The University of Minnesota men's basketball team opened its season with a 85-50 win over Cleveland State at Williams Arena.

The Gophers were boosted by a pair of transfers, with Marcus Carr scoring 18 points with seven rebounds and eight assists, and Payton Willis adding 17 points. Returning sophomore Daniel Oturu also notched a double-double for Minnesota with 16 points and ten rebounds.

The Gophers will host Oklahoma Saturday night at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
