The Minnesota Wild have fired General Manager Paul Fenton after just one year on the job. The news was reported Tuesday afternoon by the Star Tribune.

Fenton made a number of eyebrow-raising moves in his short tenure with Minnesota, including trading away Charlie Coyle, Mikael Granlund and Nino Niederreiter last season.

The Wild open the season October 3rd.
