Al Newman and Acceleration Baseball Center are hosting a charity bowling event on Wednesday, July 19th at Great River Bowl in Sartell. The proceeds for the event will go toward registration fees and equipment for local youth baseball baseball players.

Newman will be joined by fellow Rox coaches Augie Rodriguez and Adam Maxon, along with a group of current Rox players. There will be raffles and giveaways in addition to the bowling event.

Lanes are available for sponsorship, with the $100 cost including 5 bowlers, shoes, pizza and pop. Otherwise the public is invited to come out and bowl.

"It would be a blessing if we could get quite a few people to this event," Newman says. "The money will go toward youth baseball this fall, as well as softball"

Newman has hosted bowling events in the past and says his inspiration was drawn from an old TV show.

"There used to be a show on television called 'Bowling for Dollars' in which people would try to knock down as many pins as they could for money," Newman said. "I used to bowl as a young man and really enjoyed it."

"It was something I truly enjoyed, but I didn't say I was good at it," Newman adds. "If you see me throw a strike I will definitely do a dance."
