Maple Grove -- Derek Thompson pulled down two touchdown passes but the ROCORI Spartans could not contain SSP quarterback Dan Pietruszewski, who ran for over 200 yards and two touchdowns in the Packers' 19-14 win.

Pietruszewski ran for 62 yards on the first play from scrimmage in the first quarter to set up a 19-yard TD run to make the score 7-0. The Packers would score again on one yard run by the QB to make it 13-0.

Thompson's first touchdown of the game got ROCORI on the board.

ROCORI trailed 13-7 at the half. Rocori got the ball to start the second half and were looking to even the score and maybe take the lead.  They were marching down field but ultimately they were not able to score so they ended up punting the ball.  On the punt the returner for South St. Paul muffed the punt and Rocori got on top of the ball to recover and get the ball back.  With the ball back they were looking to score with the great field position.  Rocori scored on a 1 yard touchdown reception by Derek Thompson to make the score 14-13.

South St. Paul finally got the ball to start their first drive of the second half.  And they did not waste time.  On the first play quarterback Derek Pietrozewski kept the ball and ran 73 yards for the touchdown to make the score 14-19.

After the score by South St. Paul the defenses would step up by both teams.  Rocori had one more chance to move the ball down field and score with a minute left.  South ST. Paul's defense came up with the big stop to help seal the win with a final score of 14-19. South St. Paul moves on to play Becker.
