Big Ten Athletic Directors want to start a men's hockey conference beginning in the 2013-2014 season.  The conference will send their hockey proposal to the Big Ten Council of Presidents/Chancellors in June.  The league would likely include Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State.  The Gophers and Badgers are currently members of the WCHA while Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State are members of the CCHA.  Penn State has decided to move their club hockey program into a Division I program starting in 2012-2013 and will operate as an independent to begin with.  If the WCHA loses Minnesota and Wisconsin the conference will still consist of 10 schools including St. Cloud State.
