The Twins have traded left handed relief pitcher Fernando Abad to the Boston Red Sox for right handed relief prospect Pat Light according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

The 30-year old Abad has a 2.65 ERA in 39 games and 34 innings with the Twins in 2016.  Light is considered the 14th best pitching prospect in the Red Sox organization.  Light is 25 years old and throws between 94-98 MPH.  He has a 2.32 ERA with 36 strikeouts in 31 innings at Triple-A Pawtucket this season.  It's unclear if Light will join the Twins or be optioned to Triple-A Rochester.

The Major League baseball trade deadline is at 3pm (Central Time) today.
