Twins Split Doubleheader Against Rockies
The Twins lost 5-1 in the afternoon but won 2-0 last night in their day/night doubleheader against the Rockies at Target Field. Ervin Santana was tagged for 6 hits, 4 walks and 5 earned runs over 7 innings to take the loss for the Twins and drop to 6-2. Brian Dozier drove in the lone Twins run in Game 1 and Miguel Sano was 2-4.
In game 2 Jose Berrios threw 7 2/3 innings with 2 hits and 1 walk allowed to get the win and improve to 2-0. He struck out 11. Brandon Kintzler threw a scoreless 9th inning for his 11th save. Robbie Grossman was 2-4 with a run scored and 1 RBI and Max Kepler was 2-3 with 1 RBI for the Twins.
Minnesota is 20-17 and continue to lead the American League Central by 1 game over both Cleveland and Detroit. The Twins start a 3-game series with Kansas City at Target Field at 7:10, pregame on WJON at 6:30. Left hander Hector Santiago (4-2) will pitch for the Twins and right hander Nate Karns (1-2) will start for the Royals.
