Twins Close to Acquiring Starting Pitching Help
The Twins are reportedly close to acquiring left handed starting pitcher Jamie Garcia from the Atlanta Braves for a minor leaguer. The name of the minor league hasn't been revealed.
Garcia has a 4.33 ERA this season with 81 strikeouts in 106 innings. Garcia won 10 games last season for the Braves.
The Twins had the day off Thursday and will begin a 3-game series at home against Detroit tonight at 7:10, pregame on WJON at 6:30. Right hander Ervin Santana (11-6) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and right hander Anibal Sanchez (1-0) toes the rubber for the Tigers. The Twins are 48-46 and are just 1/2 game back of Cleveland for first place in the AL Central.
