SCTCC CYCLONES BASEBALL RECAP

(Sunday April 10th/Monday April 11th)

The Cyclones took on the Ridgewater Warriors for a pair of doubleheaders at Putz field.

They split their games on Monday.

The Warriors jumped out to an early lead and the Cyclones had no answer, they couldn’t put any hits together. Their starting pitcher Reece Schwirtz threw a complete game to earn the win. He scattered six hits, issued a pair of walks and he recorded five strikeouts.

The Warriors offense was led by Wyatt Petron from Zimmerman High School, he went 1-for-2 with a double for 2 RBI’s and he earned a walk. Nolan Spencer also from Zimmerman High School went 2-for-3 for an RBI and he scored a pair of runs. Brad Bickmann from Howard Lake High School went 1-for-4 with a double and he scored a run. Seth Resnick went 1-for-4 with a double and he was it by a pitch. Bennett Knapper went 2-for-2 for an RBI and he earned a walk. Jadrien Keavy from Watertown High School went 1-for-3 and he was hit by a pitch and Josh Robb earned a pair of walks.

The Cyclones starting pitcher Grady Fuchs from Paynesville Area High School threw 5 1/3 innings, he was the pitcher of record. He gave up four hits, five walks, three runs and he recorded three strikeouts. Landon Lunser from Sauk Rapids-Rice High School issued three walks and one run. Carter Wessel from Paynesville Area High School closed it out, he gave up one hit and he recorded one strikeout.

The Cyclones offense was lead by Drew Beier a Foley High School graduate, went 1-for-3 with a double and he earned a walk. John Deschamps a Centro High School of Pedro Rico went 1-for-2 with a double and he earned a walk. Joel Torres Rivera from Manuel Cruz Marceira High School of Puerto Rico went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice bunt. Carson Geislinger a Eden Valley-Watkins graduate went 1-for-3 and Jackson Peter a Belgrade-Brooten-Erlosa graduate went 1-for-3. Austin Kantola a Dassel Cokato High School graduate went 1-for-3 and Frank Fernandez  a Keys Gate Charter School graduate of Florida was hit by a pitch.

The Cyclones did collect eleven hits, including  home run, and three doubles. The big inning was the fifth, when they put up five big runs and never looked back.

This gave Cyclones staring pitcher Christian Lessmana great deal of support. He threw 6 1/3 innings, he issued one walk, one run and he recorded five strikeouts. Carter Dox a 6’1” righty from Aitkin High School issued two walks and one run. Zeus Schlegel a  5’9”lefty from Big Lake High School threw the final 2/3 of an inning to close it out, he recorded one strikeout.

The Cyclones was led by  a huge three run home run by Frank Fernandez, the Cyclones sophomore right fielder. He went 2-for-4 with hie home run, he earned a walk and he had a pair of stolen bases. Drew Beier, The cyclones sophomore third baseman went 2-4 with a double for a RBI and he scored a pair of runs. Jackson Peter, the Cyclones freshman center fielder went 3-for-4 for an RBI and he scored a run. John Deschamps, the Cyclones sophomore DH went 1-for-4 with a double for an RBI. Joel Torres Rivera, the Cyclones freshman short stop went 2-for-3 with a double, he earned a walk and he scored a pair of runs. Austin Kantola, the Cyclones freshman catcher went 1-for-2, he earned a walk, he scored a run and he was hit by a pitch and Carter Wessel, the Cyclones freshman first baseman earned a walk.

The Warriors starting pitcher was Jack Howard, he threw four innings, gave up nine hits, seven runs, issued one walk and he recorded a pair of strikeouts. The Warriors offense including Colin Ochoa he went 1-for-1 as a pinch hitter and Matt Anderson went 1-for-1. Brad Bickmann was credited for an RBI, Nolan Spencer earned a walk and Seth Resnick was hit by a pitch. Tyler Traphagen earned a walk, a pair of stolen bases and he had two stolen bases.
