Twins Beat A’s 4-3 In 10 Innings
The Twins earned their 2nd straight win Wednesday night with a 4-3 win in 10 innings at Oakland against the A's. Trevor Plouffe drove in the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning scoring Delmon Young. Plouffe was 2-4 with 3 RBIs on the night and Justin Morneau was 2-4 with 1 RBI for Minnesota. Joe Nathan threw 2/3 inning of an inning to get the win in relief and improve to 1-1. Matt Capps threw a scoreless 10th inning to grab his 7th save. Carl Pavano started the game and threw 7 innings with 1 earned run allowed but didn't figure in the final decision. The Twins are 14-27 and 12 1/2 games back of Cleveland for first place in the American League Central. Minnesota goes for the sweep of Oakland in their 2-game series today at 2:35, pregame on WJON at 2:05. Righthander Nick Blackburn (2-4) gets the start on the mound for the twins and righthander Tyson Ross (3-2) toes the rubber for the A's.
