Ever hop on an online map and look around? I like to do that every now and then, there are even social media pages devoted to the things people find on the maps. Recently I saw one of those posts that had to deal with an odd sight in the Minnesota woods, not far from the headwaters of the Mighty Mississippi. A pentagram, or star, seemingly etched into the earth. What the heck is going on?

The image above was taken from Google Maps, and it sits not far from Itasca State Park. The area seems to have been cleared of trees, and you can see the shape, when I zoomed in it was difficult to know how they were made. They didn't look like tire tracks from a car or truck...

When I zoom out and look around the area for an obvious answer, you don't really find one. There are a few resorts around the area, which is not to far from Little Mantrap Lake but nothing obvious as to why there would be a giant star/pentagram.

So, what could this be? It kinda gives me mixed feelings seeing this. On one hand it's cool like the Minnesota shaped forest, but at the same time it's creepy as you aren't sure what the purpose of the design is used for.

I googled the phrase, star in the woods Minnesota, and I didn't find anything out, so if you know what this star is all about, we'd love some answers.

History of Minnesota Timberwolves' 1st Round Draft Picks - Year by Year

No team has probably suffered more in its history in Minnesota than the Timberwolves from playoff failures to poor decisions, see Joe Smith's contract, and bad trades it seems like the team is almost always in the wait-until-next-year mode. A look at the team's first-round draft picks over the years may help explain some of it.
