CHICAGO -- The Twins finally paired good pitching with timely hitting in a 6-4 win over the White Sox this afternoon.

Rookie starter Trevor May showed flashes of his potential, striking out 10 in six innings of work and allowing three runs.

Trevor Plouffe hit his second home run  in as many games to get the scoring started and outfielder Jordan Schafer added a two-run blast in the fourth.

The Twins took a three run lead into the bottom of the ninth and closer Glen Perkins overcame giving up a solo home run the the White Sox rookie slugger Jose Abreu to collect his 34th save of the season.

The Twins (63-86) come back to Target Field to begin a series with the Detroit Tigers tomorrow with Anthony Swarzak scheduled to take the mound.
