The Minnesota Twins were destroyed 16-4 by the previously struggling Houston Astros Wednesday night at Minute Maid Park. The Twins fall to 8-20 with the loss and are 11 games behind the White Sox in the American League Central.

Minnesota starting pitcher Phil Hughes was pulled after two innings in which he allowed six runs on six hits and two walks, and six relief pitchers combined to allow ten runs over their six innings of work.

Jose Altuve paced the Houston offense with three hits, including a home run to lead off the game.

Brian Dozier was 1-3 with a three-run home run, and Joe Mauer finished the game 2-4 for the Twins.

Minnesota is off Thursday, then is scheduled to begin a series in Chicago with the White Sox Friday night. The game can be heard on WJON.
