The Minnesota Twins held on to beat Kansas City and tie up the series 1-1 and the action got underway for the St. Cloud Technical and Community College baseball team at the NJCCA Division III World Series.
The St. Cloud Technical and Community College baseball team won it's first round game in the NJCAA Division World Series, defeating Prince George's Community College 18-11.
Marco Scutaro's line drive single scored Ryan Theriot with the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning, and the San Francisco Giants beat the Detroit Tigers, 4-3, on Sunday night in Detroit to complete a four-game sweep of the 2012 World Series.

Two of the Big East's best teams meet on a Friday night in Kentucky. Fifteenth-ranked Louisville (7-0 overall, 2-0 Big East) is led by quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and running backs Senorise Perry and Jeremy Wright. Cincinnati (5-1, 1-0) was ranked and undefeated before dropping its game against Toledo last week. The Bearcats have beaten Louisville in the last four meetings between the teams.
The San Francisco Giants defeated the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 of the World Series 8-3 Wednesday night. Pablo Sandoval was 4-4 with homeruns in his first 3 at bats and he finished with 4 RBIs and Marco Scutaro had 2 hits and 2 RBIs for the Giants. Barry Zito threw 5 2/3 innings with 1 earned run allowed to get the win and Justin Verlander allowed 6 hits and 5 earned runs in 4 innings to take the loss.
The Waite Park 13 and under youth baseball team lost 6-3 to Greenville, North Carolina in bracket play at the 13AAA Babe Ruth World Series in Kitsap, Washington late Monday night. Waite Park is eliminated with the loss and finishes the tournament 3-2. Jack Schramel was 1-4 with a 2-run single and 3 RBIs and both Sam Nelson and Camren Dehler had 2 hits apiece. Dehler took the loss allowing 11 hits and 6 earned runs in 7 innings.
The Waite Park 13AAA team suffered their first loss in the 13AAA Babe Ruth World Series in Kitsap, Washington Sunday 12-2 to Bryant, Arkansas. Joey Atkinson allowed 6 earned runs in 3 innings to take the loss. Atkinson was 2-2 with 1 RBI and Chris Backes was 2-3 with a run scored for the Silverstars.
The Waite Park youth baseball team improved to 3-0 in pool play at the 13AAA Babe Ruth World Series in Kitsap, Washington. Waite Park defeated Meridian, Idaho 8-7 Friday afternoon. Michael Petron drove in the game-winning run in the 7th inning to lift the Silverstars to the win. Cameron Dehler was 3-4 with 2 runs scored, Peter Nelson was 2-4 with 2 runs scored and both Jack Schramel and Joey Atkinson had 2 RBIs apiece.
The Waite Park 13AAA youth baseball team defeated host team, Kitsap, Washington in Kitsap 3-2 late Thursday night to improve to 2-0 in pool play. Michael Petron went 2-4 with 1 RBI and Peter Nelson threw 3 shutout innings for the Silverstars. Both teams had 9 hits.
