MN 8th Grader Takes Home Nevada Trapshooting Jr. Singles Championship

I hope Foley's school district has a wood shop class because this 8th grader seems to be stacking up some serious hardware, as it looks like he's going to need a bigger trophy shelf!  A big congrats goes out to Foley 8th grader Aidin Payonk for winning a junior trapshooting singles championship in Nevada, at the end of October.

According to the Foley Public Schools social media account, Aidin achieved his success at the Nevada State Shoot that took place October 19th-27th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to online results from The Nevada State Shoot, Aidin scored 378 in class B in the out-of-state portion of the shoot.

Congratulations to Foley 8th grade Trapshooter, Aidin Payonk, who competed at the Nevada State Shoot. Aidin placed 1st in non-resident Sub Junior Singles Championship, he placed 1st in non-resident Sub Junior Handicap Championship, and he won non-resident High Over All in Class B. Way to go, Aidin! Foley is so proud of you!

Trapshooting is one of Minnesota's fastest-growing sports, a 2019 Minnesota Department of Natural Resources magazine article stated at the time:

"Minnesota is a hotbed of trapshooting, boasting the most participants and the largest competition of any state in the nation. In fact, more Minnesota students now shoot on a trap team than play high school hockey. The phenomenon is attracting a new wave of young shooters, as well as providing a big boost to shooting ranges and possibly a source for replenishing the declining ranks of hunters."

Not only is that a great achievement for Aidin, but it's also a great experience for him so early in life. Take a victory lap, young man, take a lap!
