Wild Overpowered By Islanders In Brooklyn Tuesday

The New York Islanders beat the Minnesota Wild 5-3 Tuesday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The Wild have now lost eight of their past nine games.

The Wild led 1-0 after one period of play on Charlie Coyle's 14th goal of the season, but the Islanders scored back-to-back goals in the second period to take a 2-1 lead.

Jason Pominville's goal late in the second period briefly tied the game at two, but New York scored late in the period off a turnover to take a 3-2 lead into the second intermission.

The Islanders started the third period with back-to-back goals within two minutes of each other in the first five minutes to take a 5-2 lead. Nino Neiderreiter scored on a power play halfway through the period, but the Wild could not fully close the gap.

The Wild play at New York again Thursday night, this time against the Rangers. The game can be heard on AM 1240 WJON beginning with the pregame at 5:45 p.m..
