D'Angelo Russell

The Timberwolves won Saturday at home against New Orleans 120-110. They did so without top players Karl-Anthony Towns and D'Angelo Russell due to Covid-19 protocols for Towns and due to an injury for Russell. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan joined me on WJON today.

The Timberwolves lost their 2nd game in a row in Los Angeles this time to the Clippers 124-101. Minnesota took an early lead but trailed 33-29 after 1 quarter and were down 20 points at halftime. The Wolves shot just 42 percent from the field while the Clippers shot 53 percent.

The Timberwolves completed a trade with Golden State Thursday to brought them point guard D'Angelo Russell and other in exchange for Andrew Wiggins and draft picks. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan joined me on WJON today.

The Timberwolves were in pursuit of point guard D'Angelo Russell last weekend but lost out to Golden State who pulled off a sign and trade deal with Brooklyn to land him. Some reports yesterday indicated the Warriors may be willing to trade Russell.

The Timberwolves had been reportedly interested in acquiring point guard D'Angelo Russell but that hope went away Sunday night when Golden State acquired Russell in a sign and trade deal with the Brooklyn Nets.
