Is the Average Minnesotan Really Smarter Than the U.S. Average?

Intelligence is subjective. It shouldn't be, but here we are in teh dummist thyme lyne. Actual intelligence can't be boiled down to a simple number...but we're not the sharpest cards in the soup (or whatever that metaphor is).

When it comes down to smarts, reduced down to an easy-to-overblow-number, how does Minnesota rate compared to the other 49 states? Not bad, actually, except for being behind one particular state...

Who's to question a colorful graphic found on the internet that makes us look gooder than the others? Definitely not THIS moron in idiot's clothing!

According to something called the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, the average Minnesotan has...average intelligence. Is that not the most Minnesotan result ever?

In fact, the entire nation (yes, even Arkansas) falls under the 'Average Intelligence' category. YEAH, 'MERICA! This leaves us to fight over who's the goodest of the average.

Congratulations to the nerds in Massachusetts (HA! I actually spelled it right the first time!) with their score of 104.3. New Hampshire was right on their Massachusetts at 104.2.

Minnesota finished fourth with a score of 103.7. Yes, for real (according to this graphic). So who finished ahead of Minnesota?

North Dakota, with a score of 103.8.

We might've been done-in by the kids of Minnesota...or (more likely), the adults. The methodology of this study used exam scores for adults (Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competency) and kids in fourth and eighth grade (National Assessment of Educational Progress).

So who was dead-last? WHO DO YOU THINK?! Mississippi (it's always Mississippi), with a score of 94.2.

At least we're the home of the Mississippi River headwaters.
