DULUTH -- After holding a slim lead for much of the game, the St. Cloud State men's hockey team gave up four third period goals in a 4-2 loss to the #6 University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.

Blake Winiecki gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead just before time expired in the first period and SCSU maintained the slim lead into the final period.

Hopes for stealing a win in Duluth were dashed three minutes into the third period as the Bulldogs tied the game before taking the lead a few minutes later.

UMD extended their lead to 3-1 before a goal by Joey Benik gave the Huskies some hope for a comeback.

Duluth iced the game just two minutes later as the Bulldogs scored on an empty net goal.

With the loss, the Huskies fall to 12-14-1 on the season and will look for a weekend split with the UMD Bulldogs in a rematch tonight.
