The College of St. Benedict and St. John's University soccer teams both defeated Carleton College on Saturday to earn the no. 4 seed and a home playoff game in the MIAC tournament.

Both games were shut outs. CSB beat the Knights 2-0 and SJU did it 3-0. Megan Thompson scored both goals for the Bennies. She now holds the single-season goals record with 17 and moved up into fifth on the school's career goals list with 32. Matt Anderson scored two for SJU and Kagan Foster added one.

Goalkeeper Kendall Koenen had a quiet game, making no saves and allowing no goals. For the Johnnies, Payton Spencer made five saves and allowed no goals.

The Bennies improve to 10-5-2 and 7-3-1 MIAC. They will play host no. 5 Carleton again on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.

The Johnnies improve to 10-7 and 6-4 MIAC. They will kick off their postseason play against Macalester College on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
