Chill Bro! What Makes Minnesota One Of The USA’s Least Stressed States?
When we think of the most 'chill' states in the union, the first ones that might come to mind are Hawaii... maybe California... Florida... the warm states, right?
However, when it comes to avoiding stress, Minnesota is among the very best places in the country to call home. In fact, WalletHub says we are the second-least stressed state in the USA.
In addition to having the best median credit score in the country, Minnesota also has the second-best share of adults getting adequate sleep, the third-lowest population of folks living in poverty and the fifth-lowest divorce rate in the country.
“There are plenty of small ways for people to manage stress, from staying active and participating in hobbies to taking vacations from work and getting help from a mental health professional, says WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo. "What many people don’t realize, though, is that changing location can also be a big stress reducer. For example, states that have lower crime rates, better health care and better economies tend to have much less stressed residents.”
In the study's other categories, Minnesota had the seventh-lowest percentage of adults in fair/poor health, 11th-lowest for average number of hours worked per week, 16th-best for housing affordability, and 14th-best for number of psychologists per capita.
The only category Minnesota did not fare well in was 'job security,' which had Minnesota ranked as the 15th worst state in the country.
The 'most stressed' state in the country, per WalletHub, is New Mexico, followed by Nevada, Louisiana and West Virginia.
