The summer Olympics were supposed to take place this July-August in Toyko, Japan but because of Covid-19 it has been postponed until July 21, 2021 - August 8, 2021. St. Cloud has had many either St. Cloud natives or those who attended college in St. Cloud who participated in either the Summer or Winter Olympics.

The sport of snowboarding is gaining some national spotlight thanks to the extending media coverage during the Winter Olympics. Snowboarding became an Olympic sport in 1998.
