The Timberwolves are in the market for a new head coach after firing Kurt Rambis Tuesday afternoon.  Longtime head coaches Don Nelson and Bernie Bickerstaff have been identified as possible candidates for the job.  I'm not sure if former Utah head coach Jerry Sloan would be interested in returning the league but if he is he could get the Wolves into contention soon.  Sloan is 69 years old but won 6 division titles and had 10 50-plus win seasons with Utah.  He won games with good but not great talent.  He won in a small market and he demands that his players play defense.  Sloan also has a history of coaching some pretty successful point guards in John Stockton and Derron Williams.

The Wolves could also get better right away with a hiring of Larry Brown and should consider Rick Adelman.  Don Nelson and Bernie Bickerstaff have had some success in the NBA but because of age neither one seems like a great fit.  The Wolves have made some questionable decisions under David Kahn and lets just hope this is one he doesn't screw up.
