Gophers Fall to Hawkeyes for First Loss of the Season

MINNEAPOLIS - The Gophers were handed their first loss of the season yesterday, falling to the Iowa Hawkeyes 23-7.

The Hawkeyes defense held Minnesota at bay, allowing only 165 total yards on offense compared to 464 yards for Iowa.

Quarterback Philip Nelson finished the day 12-24 with a touchdown and a pair of interceptions for the Gophers.

Jake Rudock threw for one touchdown and ran another in for the Hawkeyes finishing 15-25 with one interception.

Minnesota is now 4-1 this season. The Gophers will be away from home next week, taking on the Michigan Wolverines. Game time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
