Bullpen Blows It For The Twins

MINNEAPOLIS -- Twins relievers squandered a two-run lead in the final innings of last night's game as the Angels take their third game of the series, 8-5.

It's become a familiar storyline this series - the Twins blowing a lead late in the game and losing in the final inning.

Twins starter Phil Hughes gave up a run in each of the first three innings but settled down and held the Angels scoreless until leaving the game after the seventh inning.

Home runs by Eduardo Escobar and Chris Parmelee tied the game at 3-3 before Aaron Hicks gave the Twins the lead with a two-run single in the fourth.

Casey Fien came into the ballgame in the eighth and struggled - giving up an RBI triple to Angels second baseman Howie Kendrick, followed by a sacrifice fly which tied the game at 5-5.

Jared Burton gave up three runs in the top of the ninth breaking the tie and allowing the Angels to win game, 8-5.

The Twins will try to salvage the last game of this four game series as they send rookie Logan Darnell to the mound for a 1:00 p.m. start.
