Wolves Trade Brewer To Houston

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Timberwolves have traded wing Corey Brewer and reserve forward Ronny Turiaf to the Houston Rockets.

Brewer, who was in his second stint with the Wolves after being drafted by Minnesota in 2007, averaged 10.5 points per game this season.

Reports say that the 28-year-old shooting guard requested to be traded to a contender.

In return, Minnesota will receive second-year guard Troy Daniels, who has averaged 2.7 points in 17 games this season.

The Timberwolves hope that the 6'4" Daniels may be able to provide depth at point guard should  Zach LaVine or Mo Williams get injured.

The trade will open up about $5 million for the Wolves and should clear the way for more playing time for second-year wing Shabazz Muhammad.
