The NCAA tournament is popular because the unexpected is bound to happen at points during the Division I basketball tournament.  Is it possible to have too many upsets?  I'd say yes.  VCU vs. Butler isn't as interesting as Kansas vs. Butler.  Kansas vs. Florida isn't as interesting either.  We love the underdog but if the underdog faces another underdog that just isn't sexy.  Those that fill out office pools may have UConn or Kentucky winning the tournament but no one has VCU or Butler in the final four.  More people with a chance to win an office pool all the way until the end is the best case scenario but we didn't get that this year.  It's great to see the Butler's and VCU's of the world in the final four but without a Kansas, Ohio State or Duke the David vs. Goliath matchup cannnot happen.
