The 5th ranked St. John's football team defeated 9th ranked Bethel Saturday 28-10 to win the MIAC title and earn a berth into the NCAA Division III tournament.
The Johnnies handed Bethel its first loss of the season with an 89-78 overtime victory yesterday (Saturday). SJU has now won 10 of the last 13 meetings with Bethel and 10 of the last 12 in Collegeville.
The St. John's basketball lost 86-59 Wednesday night to Bethel in Arden Hills. The Johnnies trailed 48-22 at halftime. Patrick Butcher led the Johnnies with 11 points and Chris Orgas added 10 points for St. John's.
The St. John's football team ended the season with a 27-22 loss at Bethel on Saturday afternoon. St. John's trailed 17-13 at halftime and never led in the game. Connor Bruns threw for 258 yards and 1 touchdown. Rob Voshell had 3 catches for 29 yards and a touchdown and Josh Bungum led the Johnnies with 7 catches for 84 yards. Harry Awe had a rushing touchdown for St. John's Stephen Johnson led the team with 32 yards rushing.
The St. John's football team closes the 2012 season at Bethel Saturday at 1pm. The Johnnies have won 3 games in a row and are 5-4 overall and 3-4 in the MIAC.
