Former Minnesota Lynx player Maya Moore has been working hard to get Jonathan Irons released from prison in Missouri. That goal was realized earlier this week. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan says Irons is a black man who was wrongfully imprisoned for a crime he did not commit and Moore left the Lynx to push for his release.

The Minnesota Lynx have had some hits and some missed with their first round picks in the last 10 years. The Lynx chose Mikiah Herbert-Harrigan with the 6th overall pick in last week's draft.

The Minnesota Lynx selected 6-2 forward Mikiah Herbert Harrigan out of South Carolina. She averaged 13.1 points per game her senior year. The Lynx chose point guard Crystal Dangerfield with the 16th overall pick in the 2nd round. Dangerfield averaged 14.9 points and 3.9 assists a game her senior season at Connecticut.

The Gopher men's basketball team has added a 7-foot 235 pound transfer from Drake. Liam Robbins entered the transfer portal Saturday and verbally committed to the Gophers Sunday. Robbins is the nephew of Gopher assistant coach Ed Conroy.

Maya Moore made it known yesterday that she will not be returning to the WNBA and the Minnesota Lynx this season. She will sit out a 2nd WNBA season while she works against social injustice. Jim Souhan doesn't expect Moore to return.

Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier has been named WNBA Rookie of the Year. The announcement came down this morning. Collier was named on 29 of 43 ballots, is the third No. 6 overall pick to win Rookie of the Year (Temeka Johnson 2005, Betty Lennox 2000) and the lowest draft selection since Johnson in 2005 to win the award.

The Storm jumped out to a 29-21 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.

The Minnesota Lynx lost their final game of the regular season on the road against rival Los Angeles.
