The Gopher men's basketball team has added a transfer from Illinois State. He is 6'10 257 pound Edina, Minnesota native Reggie Lynch. Lynch averaged 9.5 points and 5.4 rebounds and 2.8 blocks a game as a sophomore at Illinois State.

The Gophers lost 79-76 at home against Penn State Sunday afternoon on Senior Day at Williams Arena. D.J. Newbill made a contested 25-foot jumper from the top of the key as time expired to win the game.

The Gopher basketball team lost 70-61 in Madison Square Garden in New York to St. John's Wednesday night. Minnesota led by double figures in the first half including a 40-31 lead at halftime.

The Gopher men's basketball team signed 3 players to National Letters of intent today. The 3 are 6'11 230 pound 3-star center Bakary Konate from Sunrise Christian Academy from Wichita, Kansas, 6'9 210 pound forward/center Gaston Diedhiou from the Canary Islands and 6'4 shooting guard Zach Lofton from St. Paul, Minnesota.

The Gopher men's basketball team is in search of filling the 3 scholarships they have available this spring. The spring signing period began Wednesday and the Gophers have yet to sign anyone.

Gopher men's basketball coach Richard Pitino is adding 6'2 transfer Malik Smith from Florida International.

The Gopher men's basketball team received a commitment from 5'11 160 pound point guard Dre Mathieu, a junior college transfer from Central Arizona Community College. Mathieu chose Minnesota over Pepperdine and Ole Miss.

Gopher men's basketball coach Richard Pitino failed to get 6'6 junior college forward Cameron Forte. Forte instead this weekend committed to play at the University of Georgia instead.

New Gopher men's basketball team Richard Pitino received a comittment from 6'3 shooting guard Daquein McNeil. McNeil had originally committed to join Pitino at Florida International.
