Royalton Takes Second In Class A, Becker Third In AA At State Wrestling

Royalton-Upsala took home second place at the MSHSL Class A Wrestling State Tournament after topping United North Central 49-16 in the quarterfinals and Dover-Eyota 34-33 in the semis before falling 45-23 to Jackson County Central High School in the championship.

Kimball won the consolation title in Class A as well.

The Becker wrestling team took third place at the Class AA State Tournament at Xcel Energy Center Thursday night.

The Bulldogs were the #3 seed in the tournament and beat Thief River Falls 42-24 in a quarterfinal matchup. Becker then fell 31-24 to #2 seed Kasson-Mantorville in the semifinals before sneaking past Watertown-Mayer 29-28 for a hard-fought third place trophy.

Simley was the state champion in Class AA and St. Michael-Albertville took home the AAA crown.

The individual wrestling tournament begins Friday.
