Minnesota Parents Need to Know About This Recall
My granddaughter just turned 18 last week. It’s hard to believe that the years have gone by so quickly. She lived in our house when she was first born, and I remember my wife and I kept her shortly after she was born and I woke up every hour on the hour to check on her, to make sure she was breathing.
For parents and grandparents, when a new baby comes into the family, one of their main focuses is the protection and safety of that child.
We all know there are tons of products out there to help keep the child safe and entertained. Sometimes parents and grandparents need to put the child down safely so they can take care of other things.
One popular tool that is available has been recalled. Yesterday, Fisher-Price placed a recall on over two million “Snuga Infant Swings” due to a risk of the infant smothering. Sadly, there have been five reported already.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says there is a problem with the headrest and seat cushion. The CPSC says you should not place your child in that swing to sleep. Also, do not place bedding in the swing with the baby.
The bedding combined with the headrest in the swing can increase the risk of something bad happening to the child.
If you own one of these swings, you should cut the headrest and seat cushion out of the swing. If you cut the items out of the swing, and provide proof they have been destroyed, Fisher-Price will send the owners a $25 refund. Instructions on what you need to do can be found at www.service.mattel.com.
