Earth Day.  It's the day when we may pay a little more attention to this planet that we all live on and should take care of.  We only get one, so let's be the best that we can be.

Yesterday, a yearly Earth Day tradition continued at the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN.  There was the release of 144,000 lady bugs.  That's A LOT of lady bugs!  But what was the reason?

Lady Bugs act as a natural pesticide and really help in that way for all of the plants that are located within MOA, especially within Nickelodeon Universe.

Kids and families got to get involved with the release, and also got to learn a lot about the bugs, the good that they do, and about Earth Day in general, and why we should all do our part to protect the planet.  To give you an idea of how useful those lady bugs are for the plants in the theme park, they have over 30,000 plants!  And if you can go with something natural instead of having to add a pesticide to keep the plants healthy, this is the most efficient way to do that.

If you happen to head to the Mall of America in the next few days, and you are planning to enjoy Nickelodeon Universe, be ready to have a few lady bugs to be flying around. Just remember, they are there doing some great work that keeps people from having to add chemicals to the plants instead.  That's a win!
