Is It More Expensive To Go Out To Eat? Here Are The Numbers
SATURDAY NIGHT OUT
If your routine is to go out to eat every Saturday night, have you noticed the price changes are skyrocketing at some of your favorite locations? Or has the increase happened slowly and steadily, making it easier to swallow while you're enjoying your steak?
There is a new study breaking down the incredible price increases at some of our favorite restaurants nationally.

FIVE YEAR INCREASES
Last month a financial source website shared their stats on how much prices have increased over the past five years. Their list also shared which restaurants have had the biggest price increases. Is your favorite on the list? We are not saying you shouldn't go out to eat; you just might have to watch your budget and make sure it works with your dining plans.
Some of the foods that are causing recent increases? Eggs, for sure. The two top places on the list of most increases in the past five years are Waffle House and IHOP.
At Waffle House, for example, hashbrowns cost $1.95 in 2020. Now, they cost $4.20. Coffee has gone from $1.80 in 2020 to $3.15 in 2025.
THE VALUE OF A GREAT MEAL
IHOP is one of my favorite breakfast locations in Waite Park. When I go there, I usually bring my kids and we don't pay attention to the sticker price. That's a treat location for us. Their prices have increased by 82% on average, over the past five years, according to the study.
You can click HERE to see the full list of restaurants and where they rank for their average price increases, as well as their highest increase products, but if you want to look at locations located here at home, and percentages nationally of price increases, this is what the study showed.
