Friday, May 10th, 2024 beginning around 10 pm into the early morning hours of Saturday, May 11th, 2024, people all over central Minnesota were staying up late to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights that were expected to present a spectacular light show, due to predictions by NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center.

An Active sunspot was throwing out some coronal mass ejections at Earth, which were expected to create an 'unusual event' because so many mass ejections were being recorded in such a short period of time.

People all over central Minnesota were watching and caught some amazing photos. Although there's nothing quite like seeing the Northern Lights with your own two eyes, I hope you enjoy the photos that were captured, and that you have an opportunity in the near future, to stay up a little late, lay a blanket down in the grass some warm summer evening in a dark location, and see the celestial show that happens all around us.

Thank you to all of the individuals who captured these photos in central Minnesota, and took the time to share them with us.
