National League Beats The American League 8-0
The National League downed the American League 8-0 Tuesday night in the All Star game in Kansas City. The National League scored 5 runs in the 1st inning off Justin Verlander. Melky Cabrera of the San Francisco Giants was 2-3 with a 2-run homerun to earn MVP honors. Matt Cain of the Giants threw 2 shutout innings to get the win.
Joe Mauer played the last 2 innings at 1st base and singled up the middle in his lone at-bat in the 9th inning.
The Twins are off until Friday when they host Oakland at 7:10, pregame on WJON at 6:40. Lefthander Francisco Liriano (3-7) will start on the mound for the Twins and righthander A.J. Griffin (0-0) toes the rubber for the A's.
