Two Minnesota Bands Headlining a Two Day Festival in June
Most people love a good festival. It's that time of year in Minnesota where we try and pack as much as we possibly can into about 4 months of weather where you can be outside comfortably. We all thrive at this time of year to just soak it all up. It also tends to be the busiest time of the year when you may have to pick and choose which things/events you are going to attend. We can't (unfortunately) do everything.
PRYES BREWING BLOCK PARTY FESTIVAL ONE WEEKEND IN JUNE
One of the festivals you might want to check out is the two day festival/block party at Pryes Brewing.
Pryes Brewing is located at 1401 West River Road North in Minneapolis. They have had this annual block party for the past 9 years - rather this will be the 9th year. This year they have two bands that are originally from Minnesota as their headliners. Soul Asylum will headline on Friday, June 19th and the Gear Daddies will headline on June 20th. Tickets are on sale today - Friday, May 8th.
THE TWO HEADLINING BANDS HAVE STRONG MINNESOTA ROOTS
If you are someone who isn't familiar with these bands, the Gear Daddies are originally from Austin, Minnesota, and have performed all over Minnesota and the United States since the mid 80s. They released albums between 1986 and 1992. Martin Zellar, the lead vocalist, also has had success as a solo artist.
Soul Asylum formed in 1981, but they were not called Soul Asylum then. They were originally Loud Fast Rules. They became Soul Asylum in 1983. They released their first album Say What You Will... Clarence... Karl Sold the Truck (great name, right), in 1984.
