#11 SCSU Routs #6 UMD
The 11th ranked St. Cloud State football team defeated #6 Minnesota-Duluth 35-7 Saturday afternoon at Husky Stadium. SCSU extends their home winning streak to 14 games. The win gives the Huskies a 8-1 record and a head to head win against the defending division II national champions. Duluth beat SCSU in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament last season.

The St. Cloud State football team is ranked #5 in the first NCAA Division II Super Region #3 rankings. Colorado State-Pueblo is ranked #1, Nebraska-Kearney is #2, Minnesota-Duluth is #3, Wayne State is #4, SCSU is #5, Hillsdale (MI) is #6, Indianapolis is #7, Saginaw Valley State is #8, Ashland is #9, and Bemidji State is #10.

Brad Meade played for the injured Phil Klaphake and was 12-23 passing for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns with 1 interception. Dante Steward ran for 101 yards on 20 carries and Michael Walker ran for 78 yards on 14 carries for SCSU. Both Renard Robinson and Seth Noreen had touchdown receptions for SCSU.

SCSU led 17-6 at halftime and scored 14 4th quarter points to put the game out of reach. Dante Steward ran for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns. Michael Walker ran for 82 yards and a touchdown for the Huskies. Brad Meade threw for 77 yards and a touchdown for SCSU.

The St. Cloud State football team defeated Northern State 27-14 Saturday evening at Husky Stadium. SCSU led 17-7 at halftime and increased their lead to 27-7 in the 3rd quarter. Phil Klaphake threw for 192 yards and 2 touchdowns and he ran for a score. Brandon Geiss led the Huskies with 115 yards rushing on 13 carries.

The St. Cloud State Football team suffered their first loss of the year 29-16 at Winona State Saturday night. SCSU led 16-12 at halftime and were outscored by Winona State 17-0 in the 2nd half. Phil Klaphake threw for 205 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for a team-best 77 yards. Michael Walker led the Huskies with 52 yards receiving on 5 catches with a touchdown.

St. Cloud State sophomore quarterback Phil Klaphake is the NSIC offensive player of the week this week. He threw for 201 yards and a touchdown and ran for 75 yards and 2 touchdowns in SCSU's win over then 12th ranked California, Pa Saturday.

The St. Cloud State football team won their season opener 26-3 at California, Pennsylvania Thursday night. SCSU is ranked #13 in the latest NABC Division II poll while California is ranked #12. Phil Klaphake threw for 201 yards and a touchdown with 1 interception and he ran for 75 yards and 2 touchdowns for St. Cloud State.
SCSU Football Starts Practice Thursday Night
The St. Cloud State football team began practice Thursday night at Husky Stadium. SCSU returns quarterback Phillip Klaphake as the team's starting quarterback. The 6'1 185 pound sophomore lost his top receiver from last season, Fred Williams. Williams finished his SCSU career in 2010 holding numerous SCSU records. The Huskies do get running back Brandon Geiss back from injury and return running backs Damon Treat and Dante Steward.
