Former St. Cloud State standout hockey player and Hobey Baker winner Drew LeBlanc is a finalist for the Sports Illustrated College Athlete of the year.
The 15th ranked St. Cloud State men's hockey team downed #6 North Dakota 5-2 Saturday night to earn a split in the weekend series. SCSU fell behind 1-0 but scored 3 straight goals to lead 3-1 in the 2nd period. UND cut the lead to 3-2 but SCSU scored 2 goals in the 3rd period to ice the win.
The St. Cloud State men's hockey team opened the WCHA schedule with a 5-1 win over Minnesota State-Mankato Friday night. Ben Hanowski scored the first 2 goals of the game for the Huskies in their 3-goal 1st period. Drew LeBlanc finished with 1 goal and 3 assists for the Huskies. Nic Dowd and Kalle Kossila each scored a goal as well for the Huskies.
The St. Cloud State men's hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Alabama-Huntsville 4-0 Saturday after winning 8-3 on Friday night. Nic Dowd, Andrew Prochno, Drew LeBlanc and Kalle Kosilla each scored a goal for the Huskies and Ryan Faragher had 18 saves to earn the shutout in net.
The St. Cloud State hockey team got some good news Wednesday. Senior forward Drew LeBlanc has been approved for a medical redshirt and will get another season with the Huskies. He played just 10 games in 2011-2012 with 2 goals and 10 assists. He missed most of the season because of injury.
