The St. Cloud State men's hockey team began the season with a 5-3 loss at New Hampshire Friday night. Andrew Prochno, Ben Hanowski and Tim Daly each scored a goal for the Huskies. Ryan Faragher had 34 saves for SCSU. The Huskies tied the game at 2 in the 2nd period before New Hampshire scored 3 straight goals.

The St. John's football team looks to snap a 4-game losing streak Saturday when they host Carleton at 1pm. The Johnnies lost 48-17 at Augsburg last Saturday and are 2-4 overall this season with a 0-4 record in the MIAC. St. John's has played the last 2 weeks without starting quarterback Connor Bruns. Bruns will miss this week's game as well with freshman Nick Martin expected to start at quarterback this week. John Ries and Mitch Hendricks may also see time at QB this week.

Saturday features four games between ranked opponents, including one top 10 game in the SEC. Additionally, 14 of the 22 ranked teams in action this weekend are playing road or neutral-site games. So this could be another weekend to be on upset alert.

The St. Cloud State football team is 4-2 after winning 36-24 at MN-Crookston last Saturday. The Huskies are unbeaten in the North Half of the NSIC standings at 2-0. SCSU knocked off then 2nd ranked Minnesota-Duluth more than a week ago and have a winnable schedule remaining. The Huskies will play at home against the University of Mary Saturday at 1pm.

The St. Cloud State football team won 36-24 at Minnesota-Crookston Saturday afternoon. SCSU led 27-3 at halftime and 36-3 after 3 quarters. Phil Klaphake threw for 229 yards and 4 touchdowns and Michael Walker ran for 37 yards and 1 touchdown for SCSU. Chad Peterson had 5 catches for 145 yards and 1 touchdown and Eli Shomaker had 2 catches for 110 yards and 2 touchdown for the Huskies.

St. John's football is still winless in the MIAC after losing 48-17 at Augsburg Saturday afternoon. The loss is the 4th straight for St. John's. St. John's trailed 21-10 at halftime and it only got worse in the 2nd half. Nick Martin threw for 110 yards and 1 touchdown with 1 interception and he ran 23 yards and 1 touchdown for the Johnnies. Three quarterback appeared in the game for St. John's with Martin starting.

The St. John's football team looks to end a 3-game losing streak when they play at Augsburg in Minneapolis on Saturday at 1pm. The Johnnies are 0-3 in the MIAC and 2-3 overall. St. John's will play this week and next week without starting quarterback Connor Bruns. Bruns could return after St. John's bye week to play against Gustavus on October 27. Freshman Nick Martin will get the start at quarterback again this week.

The Huskies are back on track and remain in contention to make the playoffs if they can run the table. SCSU's schedule was front loaded with tough opponents and has eased up a bit.

The St. Cloud State football team scored a touchdown on the final play of the game when quarterback Phil Klaphake found Michael Walker in the flat at the 3-yard and Walker dove in to score the game-winner as the clock ran out. SCSU wins 51-49 over 2nd ranked Minnesota-Duluth. Klaphake threw for more than 400 yards in leading the Huskies from behind.
