Former Sartell Sabre Spencer Meier recently wrapped up his first season as a member of the St. Cloud State University men's hockey team. Meier played one season with the Fargo Force of the USHL before joining the Huskies.

The St. Cloud State University women's team has a new head coach in Steve Macdonald. The former assistant coach was introduced at a press conference held Friday at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.

The Huskies were defeated by the Broncos 4-3 in their first round of the Regional. They held the lead for most of the game, but let it slip away in the ninth inning.

The Huskies were defeated by the Augustana Vikings and the Minot Beavers on Saturday May 11. Regional will start on Thursday May 16 and run thru Saturday May 18th.

The Huskies will open the conference schedule on Friday, November 15th against Colorado College at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.

Former St. Cloud State defenseman Jimmy Schuldt has been named one of three finalists for the Hobey Baker Award. The finalists were announced Thursday morning.

Schuldt is a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, which will be given to the nation's top college hockey player next weekend at the Frozen Four in Buffalo, New York.

Lizotte played in 37 games this season for SCSU, scoring 42 points including 14 goals. The 42 points were second only to Patrick Newell, who recently signed with the New York Rangers.
