Twins minor league outfielder Byron Buxton was named the 2013 Minor League Player of the Year by Baseball America on Wednesday. Buxton was the #2 overall draft pick in 2012.

Splitting time between Class A Cedar Rapids and Fort Myers, Buxton hit .334 with an on base percentage of .424. The 19-year-old also added 49 extra base hits and 55 stolen bases. He finished the season with 109 runs scored, second-most in the minor leagues in 2013.

Buxton will participate in the Arizona Fall League following the conclusion of the Major League Baseball season.
