The Twins beat the Tigers 7-1 Monday night at Target Field in the opening game of a three game series. Minnesota remains one game behind the Rangers for the second and final wild card spot in the American League.

Tyler Duffey had another strong start for the Twins, lasting into the sixth inning while allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out seven Tigers.

Eduardo Escobar paced the offense with a pair of hits including a home run, and Joe Mauer was 3-5 with a pair of runs scored.

The Twins host the Tigers again Tuesday night at Target Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. on WJON, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m.
