MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins won their first game of the season, beating the Los Angeles Angels 5-4 last (Friday) night at Target Field.

The game was scoreless until the sixth inning before the teams began trading blows.

After the Angels took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth, the Twins got back-to-back RBI doubles from Miguel Sano and Trevor Plouffe to take a 2-1 lead.

Los Angeles then hit a pair of home runs in the top of the seventh to retake the lead, 4-1.

But Minnesota came right back in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI double by Eduardo Nunez, who was promptly knocked in with Joe Mauer's game-tying single.

The Twins took the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning with an RBI double by Byung-Ho Park, making the score 5-4. Kevin Jepsen came in for the save in the top of the ninth, snapping the Twins' nine-game losing streak to begin 2016.

The Twins and Angels continue their weekend series today at 1:10 p.m. Ricky Nolasco will make the start for the Twins against the Angels' Jered Weaver.
