SCSU led by 5 at halftime and outscored Valley City State 38-18 in the 2nd half. Jessica Benson led the Huskies with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals, Rachel Moen added 13 points and Sam Price chipped in 10 points or SCSU.
The St. Cloud State men's and women's basketball teams began practice on Monday. The SCSU men were 20-9 overall and 15-7 in the NSIC in 2011-2012. The Huskies return a group led by senior point guard Shaun Jensen, senior forward Theo Rothstein and senior center Tim Bergstrasser. Bergstrasser started 28 games in 2011-2012 and averaged 12.8 points and 7.6 rebounds a game.
The St. Cloud State women's basketball team routed UW-Stout 93-34 Tuesday night at Halenbeck Hall. Sam Price led the Huskies with 22 points and Carley Jeffrey added 14 points for SCSU. St. Cloud State shot 48 percent from the field while UW-Stout shot 22 percent.
The St. Cloud State women's basketball team earned their first win of the season 77-70 at Jamestown College Tuesday night. Nicole Anderson and Jessica Benson each scored 14 points and Amanda Wagner added 13 points for the Huskies.
The St. Cloud State women's basketball team signed 4 players to National Letters of intent Thursday on the 2nd day of the early signing period for college basketball. The 4 players are forwards Alyssa Eschrich of Prior Lake, and Alexis Petermann of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and post players Karissa LeCaptain of Algoma, Wisconsin and Emma Konopaske of DePere, Wisconsin.
