Muzzleloader Deer Hunting Numbers Down
Last weekend was the first weekend of muzzleloader deer hunting in the state of Minnesota. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON today. He says the DNR is reporting that nearly 1,800 deer were shot this past weekend which is down about 100 deer from last year.
Ice Fishing Season Isn’t Far off in Central Minnesota
In parts of Minnesota the ice fishing season has already begun. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON today. He says he's heard reports of people ice fishing already in the Bemidji and Blackduck area. Schmitt says Red Lake is typically one of the early locations for ice fishing.

Fall Can Be a Great Time to Fish in Central Minnesota
The weather has gone from highs above normal to below normal over the past couple of days. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON this week. Glen says the drop in temperature has led to great conditions to do some fall fishing. He says walleye, pan fish, crappies and blue gills will be biting.
Central Minnesota Has a Split Duck Hunting Season, But Why?
The Duck hunting season in the Central Zone which St. Cloud and Central Minnesota is a part of has a split duck hunting season. The first portion was from September 25 - October 3. The 2nd portion goes from October 9 - November 28. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON this week.
Duck Hunt Most Successful in This Area of the State
The Duck hunting season got off to great start last weekend in Minnesota as a whole. That according to Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News. He joined me on WJON this week. He says the hunt was better in Central and northern Minnesota that it was in southern Minnesota due in part to the drought.
