Cathedral Boys Basketball

Pierz edged Cathedral in boys basketball 67-66 Friday night. Pierz made a pair of free throw late to grab the win. Jake Meyer led Cathedral with 27 points, and Andrew Weisser added 16 points. Pierz improves to 15-4 while Cathedral drops to 7-12.

The St. Cloud boys hockey team defeated Mankato East/Loyola 6-2 Friday night in Mankato. August Falloon scored 2 goals with 1 assist and Nick Richert added a goal and 2 assists. Soren Fallon had 27 saves in net. St. Cloud improves to 9-14-2.

Cathedral boys basketball improved to 8-4 overall after posting an 89-76 home win over Milaca Thursday night. Cathedral was led by seniors Jackson Jangula with 24 points and Nick Schaefer with 19 points.

Cathedral plays Eden Valley-Watkins tonight at 6pm in the Section 6-AA final at St. Cloud State's Halenbeck Hall. Cathedral boys basketball coach Matt Meyer joined me on WJON today to preview tonight's game and talk about how this year's team is different than last year's squad.

The Cathedral boys basketball team made 9 of 16 shots from 3-point range and downed Melrose 59-42 in the Section 6-AA semifinals at St. John's University last night. Junior Jackson Jangula made 3 of 4 from 3-point range and finished with a team high 14 points and 6 assists.

The Cathedral boys basketball team will play New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva at 6pm at Williams Arena tonight in the Class AA State Tournament quarterfinals.
