The Kansas City Royals beat the Minnesota Twins 8-1 Thursday night at Kauffman Stadium. The Twins fall to 49-72 with the loss.

Twins starting pitcher Tyler Duffey cruised through the first three innings without allowing a baserunner. However, the Royals battered Duffey for five runs in the fourth inning, including an Alex Gordon grand slam.

Brian Dozier led off the game with a home run for the Twins, his 27th of the season, but that was essentially all the offense Minnesota could muster.

The Twins play at Kansas City again Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on AM 1240 WJON.
