Tickets On Sale Today for Ice Castles Opening January 2026

As we are talking about cold and snow, and how this year is already different than it has been the last two years, there are definitely events that can now happen because of that cold weather.  We haven't been this chilly since 2014.

IT CAN FINALLY COME BACK AFTER A COUPLE OF WARM-ISH YEARS

For the last couple of years, the Ice Castles event has either been cancelled or shortened because of the warm-ish weather.  It was still cold, but not cold enough for this event.  This year looks to be a banner year for this type of thing.  And that's great if you are into that sort of thing.  It's fun to go to - I did get to experience it about 5 years ago.  It's worth the drive and the walk through.

ICE CASTLES MINNESOTA IS SET TO OPEN IN JANUARY OF 2026

If you are not familiar with what Ice Castles is, it's basically in the name.  The builders have to start early with water spraying and bubbling in order to make the formation of ice.  And that part is happening now in order to be ready by January.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE ICE CASTLES EXHIBIT

There are ice slides - all ages can participate in this, if you would like to. If you are planning to check this out, might be a good idea to wear some snow pants.

Caverns and passageways that you can either walk through or some that you may need to crawl through.

Ice Sculptures and a frozen tap that will feature both non-alcoholic and alcoholic holiday themed beverages.  There is also a little snack bar where you can get a sweet treat and/or some pasteries.  There are also a few fountains to check out and add to the ambiance.

Check the Ice Castles Website for tickets.  They go on sale today at 9am.

Ice Castles has moved around over the last few years, but this year it will be back at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.
