WATCH: Powerful Fourth Of July Storm Sends Central Minnesota Trailer Across Parking Lot

The strong storms that hit the St. Cloud area on the Fourth of July left vehicles, trees, and homes damaged by hail and strong winds. When we looked back on the storm here at work, we finally figured out how one of our trailers ended up in a completely different place. Check it out!

Strong Winds, Rain, and Hail Complicated Independence Day

The storms that rolled through the St. Cloud area on Independence Day left an impact. From flooded streets stranding motorists on 9th Ave to wind- and hail-related tree damage, and hail-related roof damage, plenty of Central Minnesotans felt the effects.

Here at our studios on Lincoln Ave, on St. Cloud's East End, one of our trailers ended up in a strange place. At first, we thought it might have been someone trying to steal it, but the possible thieves couldn't get the trailer hooked up, or were perhaps interrupted.

It wasn't until we looked back at our security camera video that we saw what actually moved our trailer—the storm.

Wind & Rain Create Perfect Situation For Runaway Trailer

About halfway through the video, you can see a wall of water and wind start to cross the camera, and suddenly the 98-1 Minnesota's New Country trailer starts to roll across the parking lot, towards the building.

With all of the rain that fell, our parking lot drain couldn't keep up, causing our wheel chocks to float out from under the wheels. Normally, this wouldn't cause a trailer to move, but the wind gusts were strong enough to push the trailer from behind, across our parking lot.

Thankfully, the vehicles in the video weren't hit by the runaway trailer. We've also gone with some heavier wheel chocks, so the next time we see wind and rain, as we did on Independence Day, we won't be chasing a trailer down Lincoln.
